Project SkyKraft, the joint venture between SkyNRG and Skellefteå Kraft, has secured approximately €21 million in funding from the Swedish Energy Agency’s Industriklivet initiative, part of the EU’s Next Generation EU programme.
The funding will support the next phase of development for the planned e-SAF facility at Näsudden in the Port of Skellefteå, Sweden, including feasibility, design and engineering work ahead of a targeted Final Investment Decision (FID) in 2027.
Once operational, the facility is expected to produce up to 130,000 tonnes of e-SAF annually using renewable electricity and biogenic CO₂.
The announcement comes as Europe’s renewable fuels sector continues to face financing pressures, with the support highlighting continued confidence in Project SkyKraft’s long-term commercial potential and the growing demand for e-SAF driven by aviation decarbonisation targets.
Project SkyKraft is SkyNRG’s third major SAF development project, alongside Project Wigeon in the United States and DSL-01 in the Netherlands, which reached FID earlier this year.
