Rivan Announces SNG System at UK Site

Rivan has released a full-scale 1 MW synthetic natural gas (SNG) system at its facility at its UK facility.

Once through commissioning, the system is expected to produce SNG that is 80% cheaper than previous products, with the aim to achieve cost parity with natural gas in European markets by 2028. The system includes an electrolyser, reactor, power management and control, CO₂ supply and balance of plant, with a direct air capture system in the works to be added.

In its press release, Rivan said: “This system is capable of producing SNG on-par with imported fossil natural gas in Europe – produced domestically, with no supply or pricing shocks and no carbon footprint… This is a massive step in our vision to enable production of low-cost, useful synthetic fuels, anywhere on earth.”
