Verso Energy has been selected by Q8 Aviation to supply electro-sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) through its DEZiR project for Q8’s European operations.
The DEZiR site is based in Petit-Couronne, France, and will have a yearly production volume of 81,000 tons (73.5,000 tonnes). Q8 Aviation, the aviation arm of Kuwait Petroleum International, supplies jet fuel and SAF to over 75 airports in 16 countries: this offtake partnership will help Q8 Aviation reach goals set by ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation from 2030.
In its press release, Verso Energy commented: “This collaboration is more than a supply agreement, it’s a vote of confidence in DEZiR, and in Verso Energy’s ability to deliver eSAF at scale, in Europe, for Europe. Together, we’re decarbonising aviation, one of the hardest sectors to abate; reinforcing Europe’s energy sovereignty by producing sustainable fuel on European soil; and proving that ambitious, long-term commitments between fuel suppliers and e-SAF producers are what will get Europe’s ReFuelEU targets off the ground.”
