ARAUCO, Copec and Abastible have signed an agreement to create SynFuels Biobío, a pilot-scale project aiming to explore the production of synthetic fuels, also known as electro-sustainable aviation fuels (e-SAF) from green hydrogen and biogenic CO2.
The technological development of the project will be led by Bioforest, ARAUCO’s research and innovation centre, with the site being situated at Arauco Plant near Biobío, Chile.
According to Abastible’s LinkedIn post: “The initiative will make it possible to evaluate alternatives for heavy and maritime transport, in addition to exploring future routes for aviation and the production of synthetic liquefied gas.”
