Hy2gen Nordic Project Selected for European Hydrogen Bank Support
Hy2gen Nordic’s Albatros project has secured backing from the European Hydrogen Bank (EHB), which “supports renewable hydrogen projects by awarding a production-based premium, selected through a competitive auction in which bidders propose the lowest premium per kilogram needed to make their project commercially viable”, according to Hy2gen’s press release.

Albatros, based in Kassø, Denmark, will feature a 100mw electrolyser facility and supply certified renewable fuel of non-biologic origin hydrogen to European industrial customers, supporting industry decarbonisation, strengthening Europe’s energy independence and contributing to Europe’s developing hydrogen economy. Construction is expected to begin in 2028, with operations planned for 2031.

Hege Økland, Managing Director, Hy2gen Nordic AS, commented: “Albatros is the right project to address the increasing demand for renewable hydrogen in Germany. With Aabenraa as a modern industrial hub and support from the European Hydrogen Bank, we can deliver renewable hydrogen to industrial customers in Germany at the lowest possible prices, helping them to meet EU mandates for renewable hydrogen. We are proud to invest and work closely with Aabenraa Municipality and to support local growth and development. We look forward to becoming a long-term partner in the Kassø community and contributing to its development as a leading centre for green industry.”

Cyril Dufau-Sansot, CEO, Hy2gen AG, concluded: “As Europe seeks to decarbonise its industrial base and strengthen its energy resilience, projects such as Albatros will play an increasingly significant role. By linking renewable energy resources in Denmark with industrial demand across Europe, Albatros further expands Hy2gen’s portfolio and reinforces our commitment to delivering the renewable molecules needed for the energy transition.”
