Power2X has awarded KBR the project management consultant (PMC) contract for its e-fuels project in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Under the contract, KBR will act as PMC during the front-end engineering design (FEED) and execution phases, which includes cost, schedule, quality and safety services. When completed, the project is expected to produce over 250,000 tonnes of electro-sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) annually.

Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions, commented: “KBR is proud to support Power2X for the landmark e-fuels project in Rotterdam, which will drive the advancement of SAF production in Europe. With our extensive track record in executing large-scale industrial projects, we are committed to leveraging our integrated delivery approach and technical expertise with the purpose of delivering this facility safely, efficiently and to European standards, contributing to Europe’s clean aviation goals.”

Occo Roelofsen, Founder and CEO of Power2X, said: “Bringing KBR into eFuels Rotterdam marks a significant step and the start of a new phase, going into more detailed engineering and the final planning stages. KBR’s long track record and deep experience in managing and delivering large, complex, industrial projects across the globe gives us the confidence that we are setting eFuels Rotterdam up for success. We are also in the process of selecting a partner for the critical FEED work and, together with KBR, we are excited about preparing ourselves for this next phase before reaching an investment decision. EU mandates are providing a clear market demand, and we are working closely with our customers to meet their needs.”
