JSW Steel, Bharatia and Carbon Iceland International Sign MoU for Large-Scale e-Methanol Project in India
JSW Steel, Bharatia and Carbon Iceland International have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding to explore the development of a 300–600 KTPA green methanol project in Maharashtra, India.

Announced during INDICA 2026 at the 3rd India–Nordic Summit in Oslo, the proposed project would convert industrial CO₂ emissions from steel manufacturing into low-carbon e-Methanol using renewable-powered green hydrogen.

The initiative is expected to evaluate both existing high-purity CO₂ streams and wider carbon capture integration opportunities across steel operations, supporting industrial decarbonisation while creating a potential new supply source of low-carbon fuel for maritime and industrial markets.

The collaboration also reflects growing momentum behind India–Nordic cooperation on climate technology, carbon capture and e-fuel infrastructure, as India continues positioning itself as a key deployment market for large-scale clean energy and industrial transition projects.
