Nevel and Landinfra Energy Collaborate on Green Energy Initiatives

Nevel and Landinfra Energy have signed a letter of intent for a green industrial project that will look at how CO2 capture, hydrogen and e-fuels are implemented in Åmotfors, Värmland, Sweden.

Nevel will develop and operate a carbon capture plant next to the company’s existing thermal power plant; Landinfra Energy will do the same with a 50 MW hydrogen and e-fuels plant. Resources and energy flows from each project will be used to increase energy efficiency, reduce emissions and strengthen energy supply for the region.

Final investment decision for the joint project’s next steps and investments will rely on results from a feasibility study.

Linus Fransson, Head of Strategy at Landinfra Energy, stated: “Large-scale production of hydrogen and e-fuels requires access to competitive fossil-free electricity and well-developed electricity grid infrastructure. Through our planned establishment of wind power in western Värmland and associated strategic investments in electricity grids, we can – together with partners such as Nevel – create synergies that strengthen the region’s role in the industrial transition and contribute to phasing out fossil fuels.”

Fredrik Bjöörn, Head of Industrial Infrastructure and Investments at Nevel, said: “We see great potential in combining Nevel’s expertise in energy and water infrastructure with Landinfra’s investment in hydrogen and e-fuels. Together, we can contribute to concrete emission reductions and strengthened competitiveness for the region's industry.”
