The Live Oak consortium, which includes TotalEnergies, TES, Osaka Gas, Toho Gas and ITOCHU, has launched the front-end engineering design (FEED) stage for its Live Oak Project.
Live Oak Project, based in Norfolk, NE, US, is a large-scale electric natural gas (e-NG) production facility that aims to supply low-carbon gas to customers in Japan by using US natural gas and LNG infrastructure for exports. Osaka Gas and Toho Gas are the primary offtakers of the project, and along with ITOCHU hold a 33.3% stake in Live Oak Project. TotalEnergies and TES each hold 33.3%.
The consortium aims to complete FEED in 2027 and begin commercial operations by 2030.
Clare Harris, Chief Executive Officer of TES, stated: “Moving Live Oak into FEED is a significant milestone towards delivering e-NG at scale. Together with our partners, we are advancing a project that can support Japan’s decarbonisation goals and demonstrate the role of e-NG in connecting renewable energy to global markets.”
