EIB Increases Nordic Ren-Gas Financing Framework to €680m

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has increased its debt financing mandate from €230 million to €680 million for Nordic Ren-Gas’ decentralised e-methane project portfolio in Finland.

Notably, the increase will be used to support Ren-Gas’ Tampere project, which is due to start construction at the end of 2026. It is one of six production plants that have been designed with local energy utilities to enable effective integration into existing workflows.

Nordic Ren-Gas Chief Financing Officer Juhani Häyrinen commented: “This is an important milestone for us and the industry, providing evidence that you can create bankable green hydrogen projects and attract financing partners for them. We are grateful for the trust shown by EIB towards our project portfolio execution and business model.”
