GreenH2Atlantic Gets Environmental License for Hydrogen Project

GreenH2Atlantic Gets Environmental License for Hydrogen Project
The Portuguese Environment Agency has given GreenH2Atlantic a conditional favourable Environmental Impact Statement. GreenH2Atlantic is a green hydrogen project being built in Sines, Portugal, on a previous coal-fired power plant site.

Hytlantic, the company leading the project supported by EDP and Galp, will now analyse the recommendations and proposed measures, and how these can be integrated into current engineering designs. Next, engineering activities will continue to prove GreenH2Atlantic’s economic viability, then an Environmental Compliance Report for Detailed Design will be submitted; the final stage of environmental permitting.

GreenH2Atlantic demonstrates European’s push towards green hydrogen production, previously receiving €92 million from the EU’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Fund.
