Dynelectro has delivered its first 250kW dynamic electrolyser unit (DEU) to Syntholene Energy’s electric-sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) demonstration project in Húsavík, Iceland. The DEU is expected to provide valuable operating data, supporting future optimisation and scale-up of the DEU platform and broader commercial power-to-X (PtX) deployments.
The electrolyser system incorporates SolydEra’s G8X stacks, and is designed to support PtX applications in e-Fuels, methanol, ammonia and SAF. Before deployment to Syntholene’s site, it completed factory acceptance testing at Eltronic’s PtX assembly site, during which it produced one tonne of hydrogen.
Syntholene Energy’s e-SAF demonstration project aims to integrate geothermal heat with high-temperature electrolysis for SAF production.
Sune Lilbaek, CEO of Dynelectro, commented: “This deployment represents an important step in proving our proprietary solid oxide elecrolyser cell electrolysis solution under real operating conditions. Our objective is to enable [the] worlds lowest available levelised-cost-of-hydrogen, as well as demonstrate the capabilities of our modular system architecture and execution model required for future MW-scale deployments.”
