AirLiquide Sees First PEM Electrolysers Arrive at Port of Rotterdam Site
Specialty gases company AirLiquide has announced that the first proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser arrays have arrived at its 200MW ELYgator green hydrogen project in the Port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Created through a partnership between AirLiquide and Siemens Energy, the PEM electrolysers will leverage AirLiquide’s Gigafactory manufacturing and supply TotalEnergies’ nearby industrial platform, while also serving the heavy mobility sector.

The flagship initiative is designed to demonstrate AirLiquide’s capacity to scale industry-first technologies; by producing 23,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually, ELYgator will avoid producing around 300,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

In a post on LinkedIn, the company stated: “ELYgator [will] play a key role in driving the European hydrogen economy forward… designed to directly help our industrial clients reach their sustainability and performance goals.”
