Spiral Hydrogen raises €2.7 million in pre-seed funding

Spiral Hydrogen will use the €2.7 million pre-seed funding to take its bubble-free electrolyser from lab to deployment.

In partnership with SwitchH2, which specialises in offshore ammonia solutions, they are building the first centrifugal bubble-free electroylser, in the Port of Rotterdam, Netherlands.

According to Spiral Hydrogen, electrolysers lose up to 30% of input energy to bubbles forming on the electrodes and blocking active reactions. The patent-pending technology by Spiral Hydrogen eliminates bubble formation. Gases route directly through a hydrophobic porous electrode into dedicated dry gas channels.

The result is improved efficiency over 90%, claims Spiral Hydrogen. It dramatically lowers the cost of green hydrogen, making it cheaper than fossil fuel alternatives, allowing the hydrogen economy to decarbonise efficiently.
