SolidHydrogen and SunGreen Secure AUD 2.5M to Demonstrate Low-Cost Green Hydrogen Technology

news item image
SolidHydrogen and SunGreen, together with an international consortium, have secured AUD 2.5 million to develop and demonstrate next-generation green hydrogen solutions. The funding will support the integration of SunGreen’s high-efficiency AEM electrolyser with SolidHydrogen’s innovative single-step hydrogen purification and compression system, significantly reducing costs, footprint, and operational complexity.

The initiative will be showcased through two pilot projects: a 2kW prototype in French Polynesia co-producing hydrogen and cooling for tropical and off-grid applications, and a 20kW pressurised system in Indonesia to validate commercial-scale production and performance.

In addition to technology demonstration, the consortium will conduct techno-economic analyses, life cycle assessments, and social acceptance studies, creating a clear roadmap for regional deployment. By leveraging local manufacturing pathways and integrated systems, the project aims to make green hydrogen economically competitive with fossil fuels, accelerate the energy transition in the Indo-Pacific, and establish a scalable, sustainable hydrogen ecosystem.
