Italian industrial gas group SIAD and automotive brake systems manufacturer Brembo have each invested €1 million in Hydrospark, a Bergamo-based startup developing advanced hydrogen production and storage technologies.
Hydrospark, a Petroceramics spin-off, is pioneering a modular and scalable platform based on proprietary ceramic materials and optimised manufacturing processes. The technology enables the production of high–energy-density solid oxide cells (SOCs) at lower costs, offering flexibility for both energy generation and chemical synthesis applications.
The investment aims to accelerate the development and industrialisation of Hydrospark’s technology as part of a broader effort to advance the energy transition. SOC systems can be used not only for power production and storage but also in producing alternative chemicals such as methanol, ammonia, e-fuels, steel, and dimethyl ether.
By joining forces with Hydrospark, SIAD and Brembo are strengthening Italy’s innovation ecosystem in hydrogen and solid oxide technologies – an area expected to play a crucial role in decarbonising industry and transport.
