Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM) and Verso Energy have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the development of an e-SAF production facility at RYAM’s Jesup site in Georgia, focused on using biogenic CO₂ and green hydrogen.

Building on a December 2024 agreement, the expanded MoU outlines joint feasibility studies for a CO₂ capture and storage project, a renewable hydrogen unit, and an e-fuel production facility. The site would convert CO₂ from RYAM’s operations and renewable H₂ into synthetic aviation fuel, positioning Jesup as a potential model for integrated, low-carbon fuel manufacturing.

The partners have formed a joint steering committee and begun technical and economic assessments, with a final investment decision expected within two years. The project could support decarbonisation goals while unlocking new value streams from biomass and CO₂ reuse in the southeastern U.S.
