Prometheus Fuels Achieves Commercial Readiness for Carbon-Neutral e-Fuels from Air and Off-Grid Renewables

Prometheus Fuels has reached a major commercial milestone by validating its proprietary e-Fuel production system at Technology Readiness Level 9 (TRL 9). Its Titan Forge Alpha prototype successfully integrated a full-scale 50-cell Faraday Reactor, making it the first company worldwide capable of producing low-cost, carbon-neutral e-Fuel using direct air capture (DAC) and intermittent renewable energy – fully off-grid and without the need for subsidies, hydrogen, or fossil CO₂ sources.

The Faraday Reactor converts CO₂ captured from the air directly into synthetic fuels like e-methanol, operating efficiently on variable solar and wind power, ideal for remote locations. This breakthrough enables low-cost, scalable, distributed fuel production globally.

Founder and CEO Rob McGinnis said, “We’ve invented and built an integrated DAC and fuel synthesis system that captures carbon from the air, runs on renewable energy, and produces e-Fuels that cost less than fossil at scale. It’s the kind of innovation that doesn’t just move the needle, it resets the standard. After years of development and validation, we’re now ready to scale and meet the world’s growing demand for energy.”

Prometheus has pre-sold over 11 million tons of e-Fuel for delivery over the next decade, reflecting strong market confidence. The company’s next step is Titan Fuel Forge One, its first commercial-scale production system, set to expand this technology’s impact.

Prometheus’ fuels offer a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels, providing reliable, storable, and transportable energy to power everything from AI data centres to transportation – all while advancing the energy transition.
