OX2 and Stargate Hydrogen Collaborate to Accelerate Industrial-Scale Hydrogen Deployment in the Nordics

news item image
Stargate Hydrogen and OX2 have signed an agreement to jointly accelerate the commercial deployment of large-scale renewable hydrogen production in the Nordic region. The partnership will focus on a hydrogen project in Åland, Finland, positioning the area as a key hub for green hydrogen production across Northern Europe.

The project will deploy Stargate Hydrogen’s 10 MW Aurora electrolyser system, marking the official commercialisation of its industrial-scale electrolyser platform. Once operational, the Åland facility will become one of the largest hydrogen production assets in the Nordics, utilising advanced European-developed electrolyser technology.

Beyond production, the project is expected to support the decarbonisation of heavy industry, local transport, and shipping along emerging green corridors. The partnership will also participate in the ABB-led H₂ Springboard programme, a national hydrogen innovation initiative with over €150 million in R&D investment. This collaboration will accelerate technology validation, modular solution development, and partner engagement, leveraging public funding to reduce time-to-market and strengthen competitiveness.
