India’s state-owned power giant NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC, is inviting international developers to participate in a 7GW green hydrogen project in Andhra Pradesh, targeting completion by 2032. The facility, part of the country’s first National Green Hydrogen Hub, aims to produce 2.5 million tonnes per year of green hydrogen-based chemicals, including ammonia, methanol, e-SAF, and green urea.
The hub, near Pudimadaka on the coast, will feature a port or jetty, a desalination plant, chemical storage, and 7.5GW of new transmission lines, with renewable power supplied by NGEL. The project was first announced in February 2024, with a land lease signed for a 485-hectare site and foundation stone laid virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January.
NGEL’s invitation for expressions of interest (EOI) allows developers to propose collaborations including renewable power sales, land sub-leases, green hydrogen and ammonia supply, or joint ventures. Submissions are open until 24 October via the NTPC tender portal.
