Nel Hydrogen US, a subsidiary of Nel ASA, has received a purchase order from H2 Energy for a containerised 2.5 MW MC500 PEM electrolyser. The system will be installed at the Association for Waste Disposal (VfA) in Buchs, Switzerland, where H2 Energy is developing a turnkey hydrogen production and refuelling facility.

The new plant will use locally generated renewable electricity to produce green hydrogen for VfA’s waste collection fleet, for industrial use, and for distribution within the Swiss hydrogen ecosystem.

This order represents the third containerised PEM system H2 Energy has purchased from Nel, following earlier deployments of the MC400 and C30 units. The repeat order highlights the efficiency, durability, and proven performance of Nel’s PEM technology, as well as the strength of its partnership with H2 Energy in advancing hydrogen infrastructure.

The installation will form part of the Swiss Green Hydrogen Ecosystem, which already includes 18 refuelling stations and a growing fleet of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks. The new project supports Switzerland’s wider decarbonisation goals and demonstrates the scalability of Nel’s containerised PEM systems for mobility and industrial applications.
