MB Energy and Gen2 Energy Partner to Develop Liquid Hydrogen Supply Chain into Germany

news item image
MB Energy and Gen2 Energy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Hydrogen Technology World Expo in Hamburg to collaborate on the development of a liquid hydrogen supply chain between Norway and Germany. The partnership will focus on the production, offtake, and distribution of RFNBO-compliant liquid hydrogen from Gen2 Energy’s project portfolio in Norway to MB Energy’s customers in Germany.

The cooperation will initially strengthen the production and offtake potential of liquid hydrogen from Gen2 Energy’s planned production site at Nesbruket, Norway. The MoU sets the foundation for a long-term partnership over the next three years, combining MB Energy’s decades of experience in importing, storing, distributing, and marketing liquid energy products with Gen2 Energy’s expertise in large-scale hydrogen production and logistics.

A key focus of the collaboration will be the development of an integrated supply chain for liquid hydrogen, examining various transport and storage solutions to optimise cost, technical performance, and safety. The partnership aims to accelerate the establishment of a sustainable cross-border hydrogen corridor, supporting the decarbonisation of Germany’s industrial and transport sectors.
