Magnon, ErasmoPower2X, and Power2X are jointly developing a pioneering e-methanol production project at Magnon’s biomass complex in Puertollano, Ciudad Real. The facility will integrate renewable hydrogen and connect to the Spanish Hydrogen Backbone Network operated by Enagás, linking production points with demand centres across the country.
Magnon will lead the biogenic carbon capture and integration of the e-methanol facility at its biomass plant, while Power2X and ErasmoPower2X will supply green hydrogen generated from their 1 GW photovoltaic developments and hydrogen production in Saceruela. The collaboration combines sustainable biomass, carbon capture, and renewable hydrogen to create a fully decarbonised value chain.
The project aims to strengthen Spain’s position as a European hub for green molecules, creating high-quality local employment and attracting investment in renewable hydrogen and methanol value chains. By linking renewable hydrogen production with carbon capture and methanol synthesis, the initiative contributes to energy independence, regional economic growth, and the wider decarbonisation of Spain’s industrial and chemical sectors.
