Hynfra is partnering with Japanese and Polish organisations to deploy a solid oxide electrolysis (SOEC) demonstrator in Puławy, Poland, from early 2026. The high-temperature SOEC will use waste heat from the Haber–Bosch process to produce green hydrogen for low-carbon ammonia synthesis in a closed-loop system.
Operating at 700–900°C, the system can capture and reuse heat from ammonia production, significantly boosting efficiency. Under the MoU, the partners plan a megawatt-scale SOEC facility to supply green hydrogen to chemical and fertiliser plants worldwide.
The collaboration draws on Łukasiewicz–INS for process know-how, Rockfin for modular installations, Niterra for SOEC stacks, and Hynfra for development and market integration. While SOEC is still in its infancy, this project aims to prove its industrial potential.
