Honeywell will provide its UOP Fischer-Tropsch Unicracking™ technology to support Syzygy Plasmonics’ NovaSAF-1 project in Durazno, Uruguay – the world’s first electrified biogas-to-SAF facility.
The modular plant is expected to produce 350,000 gallons of SAF annually from dairy waste and renewable energy, creating a repeatable model that could be deployed across 50,000+ biogas sites worldwide.
By pairing Syzygy’s electrified reactor platform with Honeywell’s proven hydrocracking expertise, the project directly tackles two of the toughest barriers to SAF adoption: feedstock diversity and cost competitiveness. Under the right conditions, the NovaSAF platform could even deliver SAF at Jet-A price parity.
With demand for SAF forecast to surge, projects like NovaSAF-1 show how waste-to-fuel pathways can scale quickly while reducing emissions and supporting energy security. Honeywell, a pioneer in hydrocracking for over 70 years, continues to broaden its renewable fuels portfolio with modular solutions designed to accelerate the transition to cleaner aviation.
