Eunice to Use Egypt–Greece Power Link for Green Hydrogen Production

news item image
Eunice Energy Group plans to use renewable power imported from Egypt via the planned Greece–Africa Power Interconnector to produce 32,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually for domestic and export markets.

The project, connecting Egypt to Crete, aims to harness abundant solar power for off-grid hydrogen production, helping balance grids that face oversupply during peak hours. Eunice already operates a 5 MW electrolyser pilot on Crete, capable of producing 500 tonnes of hydrogen per year.

The company is advancing permitting and negotiations with an international consortium, with expected off-takers including Greece’s chemical and pharmaceutical industries and European gas networks.
