ETFuels Advances FEED for Rattlesnake Gap e-Methanol Project

news item image
ETFuels, a global e-fuels developer, has commenced Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for its flagship Rattlesnake Gap e-methanol project in West Texas. Once completed, the plant will be the largest e-methanol facility in the U.S., producing sustainable fuels for aviation and shipping markets at commercial scale.

Rattlesnake Gap leverages Texas’ unmatched renewable energy resources, established industrial supply chain, and pro-business environment, positioning the state as a global hub for e-fuel production. The project is being executed with world-class partners, including S&B Engineers and Constructors, John Cockerill supplying electrolyzers from its Baytown facility, and Johnson Matthey providing eMERALD methanol technology.

The development aligns with growing demand for clean fuels driven by regulations such as Europe’s FuelEU Maritime rules and e-SAF mandates under UK and EU law. Rattlesnake Gap’s integrated design will allow on-site renewable power utilization, maximizing efficiency and scale.

ETFuels’ approach demonstrates a focus on tangible project delivery. Since its founding less than three years ago, the company has developed a global portfolio across the U.S., U.K., Spain, and Finland, representing over 2.5 GW of renewable capacity and a clear pathway for RFNBO-compliant e-fuels production. Rattlesnake Gap reinforces Texas as a critical transatlantic hub for next-generation sustainable fuels.
