ENTEGA to Build Green Hydrogen Plant at Darmstadt Waste-to-Energy Facility

ENTEGA has awarded FEST GmbH the contract to supply technical components for a new 3 MW green hydrogen plant at Darmstadt’s waste-to-energy facility. Construction is set to begin in October 2025, with operations scheduled for early 2027.

The plant will produce around 310 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, enough to power approximately 40 hydrogen buses and cut CO₂ emissions by 4,000 tonnes a year compared to diesel. Hydrogen will be collected via trailers for use by local public transport operators.

Funded under Germany’s DELTA real-world laboratory programme, the project will feature an electrolyser, compressor, and hydrogen trailer filling station, all powered by renewable electricity.

“Green hydrogen is vital to meeting climate targets, and this project underlines ENTEGA’s role as a pioneer in the energy transition,” said Dr Marie-Luise Wolff, ENTEGA CEO.
