Clean Refineries Subsidiary GFO and Eden Carbon Solutions Partner on SAF from CO₂

news item image
Green Fuels Operating (GFO), a subsidiary of Clean Refineries Inc., has partnered exclusively with Eden Carbon Solutions to transform industrial CO₂ into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) across North America. The collaboration combines Eden’s CO₂ capture and fuel synthesis technology with Clean Refineries’ Net-Zero Emissions Technology (NZET), providing a scalable, low-emission solution for aviation fuel production.

Eden’s system captures over 95% of CO₂ from flue gases using Hot Potassium Carbonate absorption and converts it with renewable hydrogen into high-quality SAF. The NZET process operates at low temperatures with molecular separation, avoiding the extreme heat of conventional refineries above 1,000°F, and runs as a closed-loop system with zero toxic emissions. Together, the technologies allow refineries to reduce emissions and act as carbon sinks.

A 20,000 barrel-per-day NZET refinery with Eden technology could convert 2.2 million tonnes of CO₂ from nearby industrial sources into roughly 220 million gallons of SAF feedstock annually. Initial facilities are planned in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Alberta within 24 months, optimising proximity to CO₂-intensive industries and aviation fuel markets.

The partnership addresses North America’s 6.8 billion tonnes of industrial CO₂ emissions annually and rising airline demand for sustainable fuels, offering a solution that cuts emissions, supports net-zero aviation, and opens new revenue opportunities for refineries.
