Chinese energy technology company Trina has shipped its first containerised electrolyser to Portugal, where it will be installed at a government-backed hydrogen refuelling station in Porto. The system, described as “megawatt level”, is housed in four standard containers and includes gas-liquid separators, compressors, purification, and power systems.
Designed for rapid deployment, the unit features quick-connect hoses that reportedly cut delivery times by more than 50%. Trina says the project reflects its commitment to global expansion and its vision of becoming a key player in the clean hydrogen transition.
The company is already active in large-scale projects across Spain, Tasmania, Mexico, and Colombia, and its latest shipment underscores China’s accelerating dominance in the global hydrogen race, with the country already leading in projects reaching final investment decision.
Commissioning of the Portugal system is expected in September 2025.
