Audacia Launches Calderion, a €150M Fund for Next-Generation Fuels and e-Fuels Technologies

news item image
Audacia has launched Calderion, a €150 million fund focused on next-generation fuels, including low-carbon hydrogen, CO₂ capture, and synthetic fuels (e-fuels). The fund targets decarbonisation of hard-to-electrify sectors such as heavy industry, maritime, and aviation, aiming to make sustainable fuels more competitive and scalable.

Calderion, led by Vincent Brillault and Olivier de Panafieu, plans to invest in up to 25 companies worldwide. Its first three investments include H2SITE in Spain, producing high-purity hydrogen via membrane reactors; MITICO in the USA, providing CO₂ capture solutions; and KHIMOD in France, developing heat exchangers that reduce e-methane and e-methanol synthesis costs.

The fund leverages Audacia’s DeepTech expertise and complements its existing energy transition initiatives, combining industrial, scientific, and financial expertise to accelerate commercial deployment of breakthrough decarbonisation technologies.
