Hydropulse, ITM Power’s new build-own-operate subsidiary, has entered a strategic partnership with international renewable energy developer ABO Energy. The collaboration brings together ABO Energy’s industrial offtaker network, project pipeline and development expertise with Hydropulse’s modular, containerised hydrogen production plants based on ITM’s electrolyser technology.

The partnership will focus on decentralised hydrogen production close to end users, covering permitting, power supply, engineering, construction and long-term operation. Hydropulse will build, own and operate the facilities, while ABO Energy will lead on project development and power provision. This enables industrial customers to access reliable hydrogen supply without upfront capital expenditure.

Initial projects are anchored in Europe, with a focus on Spain and Finland where low power prices favour green hydrogen production. Several early opportunities have already been identified, targeting industries with immediate demand for green hydrogen.

By combining development capabilities with capital investment and operational expertise, the partnership will accelerate project delivery and provide Hydrogen-as-a-Service and Infrastructure-as-a-Service across the value chain.
